Paradigma Software announces its 20th anniversary since the first release of Valentina Database.
Over twenty years ago, Ruslan Zasukhin had some theories on how to take one of the oldest database models known for its speed and bring it forward into the new millennium. The fruition of his research was Valentina Database 1.0, the first release of the database platform that included columnar storage, powerful and unique indexing and an advanced caching model. It was originally only for C++ and on the MacOS platform. And it was blazingly fast – even exponentially fast in some cases – as compared with other solutions.
Although the new database system included exotic features at the time, it could also use SQL and work much like a relational database because of the innovations that came from Mr. Zasukhin’s research. It could also work without SQL through interfaces that pre-dated the NoSQL database market.
Since the first release in 1998, Valentina DB has undergone two decades of refinements for performance, cross-developed onto the Linux and Windows platforms and made available as a part of Valentina Server, combining Valentina DB Server with a Reports Server and Forms Server.
